PART OF THE “MY HOMETOWN” SERIES
ENMAX ICE SHOW
During my trip to the Calgary Stampede this year, I had the pleasure of taking in the Ice Show. I had VIP seats courtesy of Enmax. They were front row and I had a spectacular view. The nice thing is though that the Corral has fabulous seating all over the arena . No seat is a bad seat. This is the second year for the show and although this years show was not as in depth as last year, it is still well worth going. There are numerous skaters dancing on ice to the live band. As well, there are acrobats hanging from the ceiling. Wonderful performers including Jamie Sale and David Pelltier who as gold medalists are a must see! To think this is a FREE show included with gate admission! The show lasts about 40 minutes and it is rush seating. Get there early because seats fill up fast.
BELL MIDWAY CIRCUS
As I was considering heading home for the evening, one of the stampede staff asked me if I’d ever seen the High Dive show. It was coming up in a few minutes. Somehow I had previously missed it and decided to stick around and take it in. I’m so glad I did. It takes place at the Bell Midway Circus along with other shows like the trampoline performance. Their was a troop of divers that performed fantastic single and group dives. They even got into the circus mode for awhile and dressed up as clowns for some hilarious stunts. The dives were quite fabulous especially considering that were all performed from varying heights into a 10ft tank! The show was a combination of comedic entertainment and awe inspiring dives. Since it is a free show, seats are on a first come first serve basis. There is a billboard out front that gives the time of day for each of the various performances. Another fantastic FREE show included with your gate admission!
